Job Description:

Responsible for cutting and editing film footage until it meets a director’s approval. Rearrange and splice scenes, determine if a scene needs to be reshot, and insert music, sound, or optical effects. This position requires the highest level of professionalism, with the ability to work closely with Soundsight Productions staff through professional communication and etiquette. You will also be responsible for driving high standards for the content Soundsight Productions creates-assisting on multiple projects delivering both short-form and long-form content, as well as any other new formats we engage with in the future.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Edit film until it meets director’s specifications.
  • Watch scenes and determine which will end up on the cutting room floor.
  • Rearrange scenes.
  • Work with and manipulate raw camera footage, dialogue, sound effects, graphics and special effects.
  • Determine which camera angles to use.
  • Insert music, sound, or optical effects.
  • Create VFX for film shots according to the story.
  • Develop CGI Creation for film shots according to the story.
  • Color each project according to the tone/style of the story.
  • Use nonlinear digital editing systems to edit clips.
  • Work with work prints to organize the scenes and transitions that make up a film.
  • Create edit decision lists to correspond to the edge numbers.
  • Edit film for commercials, station identification, and public service messages on television films and tapes.
  • Check films for damage.
  • Purge damaged or old tapes.
  • Work on feature films, television programs, music videos, corporate training videos or advertisements.
  • Reorder and tweak the content to ensure the logical sequencing and smooth running of the film/video.
  • Input uncut rushes/dailies and sound.
  • Determine exact cutting for final stages.
  • Work with director to achieve desired end result.

Salary:

Unpaid Internship. Graduates along with students will receive credit for each project that is released. Undergrad Interns will receive course credit with university and experience with hands-on film productions; in pre-production, production and post-production.

Recommended Qualities/Skills:

  • Post-Production: 3-5 years (Required)
  • Video Editing: 3-5 years (Required)
  • Long/Short form narrative Video Editing
  • Trailers, Sizzle Reels, Commercials
  • Asset conform / conversions (e.g. 16×9 to misc.)
  • Occasional graphic creation (as it pertains to video editing)
  • Motion Graphics capabilities for GIF creation and overlays
  • Organization and management of archival video assets
  • Cut videos to music in a creative way (for IGTV videos, sizzles, intros, etc.)

Flexible Schedule:

  • Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Necessary means of transportation/Ability to travel
  • High school diploma preferred
